OFCOM

New London Headquarters

With an extremely tight timescale, Ofcom chose Kromers to design and manage technology deployment in their Headquarters fit out in central London.

The Need

With space at a premium, Ofcom decided to refit their aging London UK headquarters. However, their Audio-Visual requirements had not been defined before the fit out of their building began.

To meet the tight timescale that Ofcom had set themselves they needed a consultancy practice to Gather the Requirements, Design and Engineer the Systems, produce a full Scope of Works, assist with the procurement and evaluation of the tender, then manage the chosen vendor through the deployment phase and complete final testing, witness and sign off, of the completed solutions.

The Answer

With time at a premium, Kromers quickly realised that the requirements of the business and the people had not been fully gathered and evidenced. Therefore, Kromers efficiently workshopped the requirement with the people and business to ensure the designs met the needs of all parties. Kromers then quickly and efficiently completed the designs, developed a full scope of works, produced the tender pack including a full BOM with make and model, aided procurement and delivered technical oversight during the installation phase. This approach ensured a successful final test which allowed witnessing and sign off to be completed within the timescales of the project.

The Outcome

With Kromers assistance, Ofcom was able to meet the demanding timescales without exceeding the budget that had been set. Kromers was able to not only deliver the standard workplace settings, but also more complex spaces from triple divisible meeting rooms that allowed the solution to be operated by the end user, using recognised and familiar technology. Kromers also delivered on the more complex spaces where a technician operated system including pan, tilt zoom, cameras, and distributed audio with a digital audio desk for the technician was available.

The outcome is better use of space, in an older building style, where the technology meets the requirements of the people, and the business. All delivered in a timescale that was testing and on budget.
