Fotografiska

Kromers were selected by Fotografiska for their new museum, of Photography in London, with the mission of Inspiring a more conscious world through photography.

The Need

Fotografiska International sees London as a leading cultural city, and with locations already established in Stockholm, Tallinn, and New York, a new Museum in London was the natural next step.

To meet the ambitious timescales and continue to stage 25 large-scale exhibitions per year that attract some 500,000 visitors, Fotografiska needed a location that would act as their London offices whilst providing space for their exhibitions. With a location in Whitechapel chosen they needed a consultancy practice that would deliver the standard IT&AVdesigns for their office space, as well as engaging, interactive, solutions for their visitors.

The Answer

With over 300,000 sq. ft of space, Kromers was appointed to gather the clients’ requirements and deliver a full IT & AV design that met the day-to-day challenges of the offices, whilst exciting the visitors to the museum.

Kromers efficiently workshopped the requirement with the people and business to ensure the designs met the needs of all parties. Kromers then quickly and efficiently completed the designs, developed a full scope of works, including technical and functional narratives, and produced the tender pack including a full BOM with make and model, to aid procurement.

The Outcome

With Kromers assistance Fotografiska was able to ensure that the solutions met the requirements of the people and the visitors, providing an interactive, engaging solution for the museum, and a space where people could effectively and efficiently work from.

Before the build stage of the project, and with Kromers assistance it was clear that the project was going to overrun from a financial perspective. Therefore, with pending uncertainty around Brexit and Covid concerns, the project has been delayed. This would not have been possible without the business case and foresight that Kromers brought to the project.

The outcome is a space and technological solution design that is fit for purpose, ready to inspire the world.
